{HISTORY AND CULTURE}
For as long as there have been Vampires, there has been the Jellicle Tribe. They pop up throughout history wherever tales of Vampires are most dense. Their message has always been clear, from the very first Jellicle Ball and message from the Everlasting Cat. Eradicate all Vampires. The Jellicles have made a home in countless cities around the world, and have been in London for generations now, ever since Old Deuteronomy's great-great-great-great grandfather heard tell of a threat and established a progeny in the Junkyard.
The knowledge of Vampire eradication has been passed down through the generations, acquired hundreds, even thousands, of years ago through difficult and deadly means. These methods are held sacred, and neither they nor any knowledge of the existence of Vampires, is ever shared with non-Jellicles. The panic that ensues when outsiders learn of the existence of Vampires is near unendurable.
Perhaps their most important tradition in the Jellicle Tribe is the Jellicle Ball. Once a year, in the middle of summer, all the Jellicles gather and celebrate their connection to the Everlasting Cat and their sacred mission. It is also when they make the Jellicle Choice, sending one of their own to the Heaviside Layer to be reborn into a new Jellicle life. The chosen cat is traditionally older and through with their life, though young cats have been chosen in the past.
{TRAINING}
Not all Jellicles choose to hunt, but all Jellicles are trained in basic self-defense against Vampires throughout their kittenhood. The choice to hunt comes when they turn eighteen. This is when Jellicles are allowed near the Cages, where an intensive training facility and a storage shed of weapons can be found. Most Jellicles pick one weapon or fighting style to master, but there are some that excel in multiple tactics. Jellicles who do not choose to hunt typically find their calling elsewhere, be it healing, food gathering, scouting, kitten care, weapon maintenance, and so forth. There is no stigma against Jellicles who do not hunt, as long as they still find a way to be useful in the Tribe.
